Monaco Grand Prix: History, Legend and Experience of an Automotive Legend
Since 1929, the Monaco Grand Prix has been much more than just a Formula 1 race: it is a ritual, a symbol, a jewel that has stood the test of time. Held in the narrow, hilly streets of the Principality, this event has become a pillar of motorsport history, a course adapted to the size of Monaco that fascinates the world. Combining technical challenge, aristocratic tradition and a worldly atmosphere, it is a flagship event that has contributed to the worldwide reputation of our country.
A race made in history
It was under the impetus of the Automobile Club de Monaco and Prince Louis II that the first Grand Prix was created in 1929. In 1950, it entered the calendar of the very first Formula 1 World Championship. It did not take long to gain a special status: that of a legendary race. Its importance is such that it is one of the three pillars of the mythical "Triple Crown" of motorsport, alongside the Indianapolis 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The biggest names shone there. Ayrton Senna holds the all-time record with six victories, including five consecutive victories between 1989 and 1993. Graham Hill, nicknamed "Mr. Monaco", triumphed there five times in the 60s. Alain Prost, Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton, all left their mark.
The circuit: an urban work of art
3.337 km long, the construction of the Monaco circuit amazes all enthusiasts. It is the shortest and most winding in the championship. Its layout, almost unchanged since the 1950s, requires millimetre precision. No clearance space, rails a few centimeters away, and mythical bends:

Monaco is also the Grand Prix of refinement and spectacle. The grandstands overlooking Port Hercule, the private terraces, the balconies of the Casino, the luxurious yachts, the boxes at the Fairmont or the Hôtel de Paris... So many unique locations that transform the race into a world-renowned social event.
Every year, the paddock turns into a red carpet. Actors, entrepreneurs, renowned athletes, influencers and members of royal families meet there to experience the Grand Prix in a hushed atmosphere, between champagne, couture outfits and roaring engines.
A Home Race for Many Drivers
Monaco is not just a movie set for the drivers: many live there all year round. Safety, climate, quality of life and favourable taxation make the Principality a real stronghold of F1 stars. Current and recent residents include:
Charles Leclerc, a native of the country, but also Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, Lando Norris, Nico Hülkenberg, and Daniel Ricciardo.
This proximity to the city makes the Grand Prix even more special: some riders reach the pits on foot or on scooters, sleep in their own beds and pass the fans on the street.
The Historic Grand Prix and the Monaco E-Prix
The Monegasque circuit does not only live for Formula 1. Two other events enrich its aura:

The Grand Prix de Monaco Historique, held every two years, brings the legendary single-seaters – from the Bugatti Type 35 to the Lotuses of the 70s – back to life on the same track. A popular event for collectors and purists.
